The Ollab group's latest work Susi hukassa brings to the stage various explorations in representing the wolf, moving between the mythical, the symbolic, and the real. The piece is a pleasurable transformation—a howl in a moonlit forest. In the dance, the imagined and the sensed intertwine. What follows is friendly play, shifting gazes, alert presence, galloping paws, sniffing, and playful nips.
Ollab blurs the line between human and wolf, inviting the viewer to relate on both animal and human levels. In doing so, the piece succeeds in breaking the sense of otherness so often associated with the wolf.
